What is a DVD recorder?
Generally, a DVD-Recorder is a device that can play DVD’s and record shows or movies onto DVDs, although there are different types of DVD-R’s. Some DVD Recorders require you to insert a digital videodisc (DVD) and program each recording manually like you would with a VCR. Other DVD-R’s allow you to record TV programs with a push of a button (like a DVR). These DVD-R’s can allow you to record TV programs and then also record them onto a DVD. The DVD-R’s that function like a DVR allow you to start, stop, pause, fast-forward and rewind a program using your remote control.

What is  a DVR (digital video recorder)?
A device that allows you to both record and playback programs at your convenience without the use of videotape or disc. You can record a single TV program or a series with the push of a button. You can pause, rewind or fast forward live TV using your remote control. A DVR can be a service provided by your cable/satellite company or a TiVo type stand-alone electronic device. Other DVR features allow you to record two shows at the same time, build a library of recorded shows, and watch recorded shows whenever you want.
